USB 3.1 mainly refers to USB data transfer speeds. The mobile phone industry mostly uses USB 3.1 Gen 1, although some may have heard of USB 3.2 Gen 1. These are all official rebrands of USB 3.0, which result from the USB Implementers Forum's own questionable actions.

USB 3.0 offers a maximum transfer rate of 5Gbps, which translates to 625MB/s in bytes. Of course, this is the theoretical maximum speed, rarely achieved in actual products. However, it is significantly faster than USB 2.0's maximum of 480Mbps (60MB/s). This faster data transfer is the primary purpose of USB 3.0—enabling quicker file transfers.

However, this benefit has a limited impact in real-world use. First, you need to purchase a USB 3.0-compatible cable, as manufacturers rarely include them as standard accessories. Additionally, the MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) mode used when connecting Android devices to computers is inherently slow. Consequently, USB 3.0 struggles to deliver its full potential during file transfers.
